Elantris

A few months ago I was talking to a few colleagues about books and what’s everyone reading.

One person mentioned she’s reading a fiction book by Brandon Sanderson, I hadn’t heard of him before, one google search later I was on his website in the “Start Here” section (link) , and next thing I knew, Amazon was telling me the book is ready to read on my Kindle. Ah! The perks of modernism!

It’s hard to review a fiction (or sci-fi) book without spoilers, so I’m keeping it short and to the point.

Elantris is a fun, and easy read. It’s easy to follow, the character development is not overly complex, and the plot is simple, yet exciting.

It does have just the right amount of “wait, what?!” moments, and none of them are too complicated either.

So if you like magic fantasy wordls, and looking for an easy read that you can read after a tough day of responding to two SEV-1 incidents, Elantris is as good choice.

I’m giving a 5 star, not because the world building is top notch, or the plot is something you’ve never heard of, but because Mr.Sanderson’s masterful balance of all seemingly-opposite characteristics I mentioned above.

Have fun reading it.
